WHAT IS THE GMF?

The Global Manufacturing Festival (GMF) is a FREE event, designed to connect SMEs in the UK’s materials based engineering supply chains with major international customers.
Often, SMEs find it difficult to deal directly with OEM’s and operators, as a result they often do business through lower Tier suppliers.

In an ideal world, these SMEs would be less reliant on such arrangements and would have more knowledge of the structure of these complex supply chains. This would allow them to better identify who their customer is and what future requirements they have.

The GMF is specifically designed to help such companies understand the supply chains for a broad range of high growth market sectors, how they might access them, and where to focus investments to gain future business – The GMF provides the perfect environment to achieve this.

The City of Sheffield has made a long term commitment to an annual Global Manufacturing Festival and our vision is it to be the premier national high technology, high quality and high added value manufacturing festival that sells UK manufacturing to the world.

Sheffield and the city region is at the centre of UK manufacturing, housing many of the world’s most innovative engineering materials and processing organisations. It is the hub around which many of the country’s export led supply chains are built.

Sheffield and the city region is a vital player in the world of high value profitable manufacturing, and needs to remain in this position to ensure wealth continues to enter the country, and flow down the supply chains and into the service sectors.

This festival is the place to come to understand market opportunities, leading issues and technology. For the first time it will be held at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre – one of the worlds leading manufacturing research and development facilities.
